Sphere 17 Kilbarrack recently participated in a national competition ran by Trocaire in which schools and youth groups were tasked to design a game based on one or all of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). Each week, the group came together to work on their plans and execution of the game and they came up with the following AMAZING concept:
Global: The SDG Adventure Game
This board game is set across all four elements (earth, wind, water and fire) and in each section there are tiles connected to natural disasters and SDG questions that a player must answer correctly to move forward.
The young people absolutely loved designing this game and they learned so much about the sustainable development goals in the process. The whole journey was enjoyable, educational, and fun!
They submitted the game to Trocaire, and it passed the first round of voting, which resulted in an invitation to the Helix in DCU where the top 29 games were laid out and played by all young people in our category, then each group voted for their favourite and luckily for us, we won 1st place in the youth category.
The young people were so happy to win a games kit, vouchers, and a fancy trophy to proudly display next to last years! Roll on 2026 🙂
