Social Commons, Art Exhibition, Liberty Hall, Dublin 1.

Congratulations to our fantastic artists that earned their first critical review from the highly regarded Visual Artist Ireland Newsletter!!! It’s wonderful to see their work being highlighted among well respected National and International professional artists.

The 6 month process from concept to realisation certainly paid off!! Sphere 17 is committed to supporting all young people in the creative endeavours. Over 200 young people participated in this regional project over our four centres (Darndale, Bonnybrook, Priorswood, Kilbarrack). Through a series of workshops it was established that mental health was a major concern among young people and their peers. For their first exhibition in Liberty Hall entitled ‘Seen and Heard’, young people explored themes of identity, anxiety and social acceptance. The exhibition was received phenomenally well with four pieces being selected by curators Kathryn McGuire and Siobh McGrane to be part of the SIPTU Mayfest Social Commons Exhibition in Liberty Hall.

We would like to thank the staff of Liberty Hall, SIPTU and VAI Ireland for their support in nurturing our young artists creativity!! Most importantly, we would like to thank the young people who participated, supported and were brave enough to hold up their hand and speak out about the issues young people in Ireland face today. We couldn’t be more proud of them!!
