In September 2021, the CDETB sought submissions from experienced organisations as part of an open call, to deliver a specific service targeting hard to reach young people in the Coolock/Kilmore area, particularly those whose lives are impacted by the effects of, involvement in, gang related criminality violence and substance misuse.
From this came Out ‘N’ About Detached Youth Service. Situated in Sphere 17 Darndale – Out N About is a detached youth service covering the areas of Darndale, Moatview, Bonnybrook and Kilmore that has a specific focus on engaging young people who are not engaging in any service or for those who have dropped off. This service aims to work with young people on their terms and on their turf. A street based service that provides the supports of a youth service; Out ‘N’ About. We are youth centred and want to learn about young people from young people. The team are also involved in community events and forums and will continue to spread awareness about what we do across the community. We aim to be present, be consistent, be seen and continue to build relationships with young people.
Coming soon….
You may also soon see us out in our new detached hub/bus. This bus was sourced through funding we received from the community safety fund by the Department of Justice. This will allow us to reach more areas at one time and enable us to offer the young people we work with more services and supports without them even having to access a building. If you have any questions please feel free to drop by and ask one of the team onboard or send us an email with your query and we’ll be happy to get back to you.
